Featuring: Tara Brown & Elouise Cabaco as Amelia
Amelia explores the complexities of her adulthood as the voice-over narrative of her younger self overlaps her understanding of relationships as a young adult.
Directors Note: My present-day understanding of womanhood and physicality has grown complex and confusing. Yet, it grew alongside the natural change from childhood into young adulthood. This film parallels the two. I hope this film reminds you that your 8-year-old self is looking up to you.
As a filmmaker, we get told that art has power. Storytelling can bring a community together, exposing the humanness of our shared experiences. The world watched as the results of the 2024 election unfolded; the ultimate shared experience. Yet, we remain a nation of division and uncertainty. This short is my experience-- one understanding of a historic event that will impact the lives of both future generations & my immediate community.
